Mangamhoe Working Bees: 2010

A lot of digging action will be going down at Mangamahoe in 2010, initially on the trails at the front of the forest, and then moving out the back when the weather cools down a bit.
  • Saturday 23rd January 2010, 10am – 3pm.
  • Saturday 20th February 2010, 10am – 3pm.
  • Saturday 20th March 2010, 10am – 3pm.
We're also running a number of Trail Maintenance Nights to do a bit of trimming and tidy up work on the existing trails:

  • Thursday 28th January 2010, 6pm – 7.30pm.
  • Thursday 11th February 2010, 6pm – 7.30pm.
  • Thursday 25th February 2010, 6pm – 7.30pm.
  • Thursday 11th March 2010, 6pm – 7.30pm.
Generally it's a good idea to wear suitable footwear, bring along some gloves and food and water.
No tools supplied, so please bring something useful for trail maintenance or new development.

New Taranaki Event: Te Kiri, Opunake 7 Feb

The Opunake Lions have just announced a new summer ride, taking place near Opunake on 7 February 2010. Two courses are on offer: a gentle short course that will be used for South Taranaki's Mayoral Bike Ride Challenge effort, and a "rather more strenuous" 20km off-road route (liking the sound of that one!).

South Taranaki District Council is sponsoring the short course, and the Opunake Lions the longer course. There will be prizes for both routes and some decent food etc available post-event.

Both courses will start and finish at the Te Kiri Hall which has good showers and changing rooms.

Event Details
Start: 10.00am, Sunday 7 February 2010
Location: Te Kiri Hall, Eltham Road 10 km out of Opunake.
Entry: Short course: FREE, long course: $10/adult, $5/U13, $15/family.

It's great to see more grass-roots events like this springing up around Taranaki - get out there and support it!
