Results: last of the summer ride

Ten turned up to race, and a further eight for a sifty ride at yesterday's Last of the Summer Rides ride at Mangamahoe. Two epic battles waged in the XC race, one at the front of the field between Scott and Matt, and an even closer duel of youth vs 'experience' between Nick and Liam in the middle of the field.

The tracks were running beautifully, with the hard work being done by club trail gurus Craig and Shane delivering the goods. The scene is set for a fast-paced and fun XC event at the University games in a fortnight, which will use similar trails (maps up in the next day).

Mangamahoe Trail Map: Updated

Here's the latest map of the growing trail network at Lake Mangamahoe. Note the green tracks closest to the road (at right on the map) are generally easier and are child/beginner friendly.

Sadly we will lose some of the northern area to logging in May, so go out and try before then, and take a friend. The new Plymouth Mountain Bikers will be working with NPDC and Taranaki Forestry Services to re-establish the trail network in the area after logging - there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved.

The recent additions to the trail network have involved considerable work by the club, particularly Craig Treanor and Shane Wilson.
